KEVITSA (FINLAND)

One of the largest mineral discoveries in Finland, the ore body contains nickel, copper, gold, platinum and palladium.

A greenfields copper nickel processing plant was constructed to concentrate the ore at the mine site.

Process E & I were responsible for initial electrical engineering and concept design and continued their involvement, through client representation, during detailed design and commissioning of the plant, with principal engineers relocating temporarily to Finland.

The climatic conditions presented particularly challenging design issues with the minimum temperature in winter being -50°C and maximum temperature in summer being 30°C. The entire process plant including milling and flotation circuits had to be located entirely indoor.
